The main aim of this study is to model quality of life (QoL) among inmates’ community imprisoning in Malaysian prison using quantitative study. A total of 451 inmates were selected and the validation model using confirmatory factor analysis confirmed the unidimensionality, validity and reliability of the construct. The study found QoL Maqasid al-Sharia approach, consists of five constructs namely “religion”, “life”, “mind’, “lineage” and “property”, may be useful for strategies that could enhance QoL of these inmates’ communities.

The aim of the present study was to identify and analyze the determinants of prison inmates' psychosocial quality of life (PQol) as a positive and negative correlates. Three hundred ninety prison inmates were recruited from the correctional facilities administered by the Warsaw District Inspectorate of Prisons. Data were collected by means of the SQLQ, SOC-29, SWS, SPI/TPI, SIPR, COPE, GSES questionnaires and analyzed by means of SEM. The positive correlates for prison inmates' PQol are: sense of coherence, self-efficacy, intensity of religious attitude, social support, and trait curiosity. Among the strategies of coping with stress, only seeking social support for emotional reasons is a significant factor that directly predicts PQol. Substance use and planning play only a mediating role in PQol prediction. The negative correlate for inmates' PQol is trait depression. Contrary to predictions, anxiety is not a negative correlate-as noted above, it is associated with a positive score on PQol. Keywords determinants of quality of life, psychosocial quality of life, quality of life in prison, positive correlates for prison inmates' qol, negative correlates for prison inmates' qol

Prisoners in the correctional area are faced with unexpected situations and conditions. Prisoners ability to solve problems will affect the level of quality of life (QOL). However, research that focused on QOL levels based on age and education is not yet available, so this research is essential. This study applied a cross-sectional design with systemic random sampling and purposive sampling techniques. QoL measurements were carried out at 120 male prisoners using WHOQOL BREF instruments that have been tested as valid and reliable. The study was conducted in one of the Prisons in Central Java Province in September 2019. Inclusion criteria were no family visits, occupation of prisons for less than 18 months, general crime, and no cognitive impairment. The results showed that male prisoners with late adulthood and high school education had higher QOL mean rates of 88.5 and 87.6. The conclusion is the level of QOL related to age and high education.

Purpose-Penal institutions affect their inmates' mental as well as physical health. Prisoners have higher rates of physical health conditions than the public. While it is known that psychosocial factors determine patients' quality of life, little research has focused on factors related to prisoners' psychophysical quality of life (PQoL). The purpose of this study is to analyze the determinants of prisoners' PQoL. Design/methodology/approach-The sample consisted of 390 prisoners recruited from correctional facilities administered by the Warsaw District Inspectorate of Prisons. This study hypothesized that social support, coherence and self-efficacy would be positive determinants of PQoL and that depression, anxiety and anger would be its negative determinants. The collected data were analyzed by means of structural equation modeling. Findings-The positive determinants of PQoL in prisoners are coherence, self-efficacy and social support. The negative determinant of PQoL is trait depression. Originality/value-This study has revealed a list of factors significant for improving prisoners' PQoL. Factors have also indicated which of the predictors measured are the most significant. The identified set of significant factors should be taken into account in social rehabilitation programs for prisoners as contributing to the preservation of life and health.

Purpose: One of the most vulnerable areas for poor mental health is prisons. This study was conducted to investigate whether quality of life predicts psychological distress and self-esteem among prisoners as well as to look at any gender differences that might exist. Design/Methodology/Approach: This study utilized a correlational design carried through the survey method. A purposive sampling technique was used to collect the data from prisoners. The sample (N=200) included 100 male and 100 female prisoners. The sample was selected from Lahore, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, and Gujranwala jails. The age range of the participants was 20 to 50 (M = 38.12, SD=6.50). Data was collected through validated questionnaires. Findings: Regression analysis indicates quality of life as a significant negative predictor of psychological distress and significant positive predictor of self-esteem. Compared to female prisoners, male prisoners have higher self-esteem and a better quality of life. Female prison.

This study emphasises the importance of Quality of Life (QoL) as a bridge between prison climate and life satisfaction among Malaysian drug-abuse inmates. The respondents are given a self-administered assessment randomly selected from the list of drug-abuse inmates in a Malaysian prison. The Structural Equation Modelling in IBM-SPSS-AMOS 25.0 is applied to model and calculate the inter-relationships among the constructs in the study. The results show that QoL significantly influences drug abuse inmates' prison climate and life satisfaction and partially mediates the relation between prison climate and life satisfaction among Malaysian drug-abuse inmates. QoL is essential to fulfil drug-abuse inmates' life satisfaction during imprisonment and achieve a better life in the community after being released from prison. Hence, practical contributions are proposed to the Malaysian Prison Department for designing appropriate policies and strategies to improve prison climate and QoL f.
